„Over the 20 weeks of its original publication, fascinated readers throughout the English-speaking world read Hard Times as it was released, performed it in family groups or read it on their own, and waited with legendary impatience for the next week’s part.“
In dem Community Reading Project wurden, in den Jahren 2003-2005 Faksimile von drei Romanen Dickens ( Great Expectations in 2003, A Tale of Two Cities in 2004, and Hard Times in 2005) in Serien zur Verfügung gestellt, um den heutigen Lesern ein Gefühl für die Lesesituation von vor 150 Jahren zu ermöglichen.
2007 wurde das Projekt mit Sherlock Holmes fortgesetzt:

Mittlerweile scheint das Projekt leider abgeschlossen zu sein, man findet aber alle Kapitel ergänzt mit Kommentaren, Landkarten und Bilder noch auf den genannten Seiten.
